What
is Spam? |
| |
Spam
is also known as UCE - Unsolicited Commercial
Email.
Most UCE is commercial advertising,
usually for dubious products,get-rich-quick
schemes, or quasi-legal services. Often
the roductsadvertised are worthless,
deceptive, and partly or entirely fraudulent.Other
times, it is simply advertising for
something that you are probablynot interested
in. |
| |
|
| 2. |
After
I sign up, how soon will the service
will be activated? |
| |
Typically,
within a business day. The primary reason
for the delay is that any change to
your domain's "MX" records
do not take effect immediately, but
must propagate through the Internet.
Technically, your MX records have a
"TTL" (Time-To-Live) value
which specifies how quickly changes
will take effect. A typical TTL value
is one hour, but your domain may be
configured with another value, such
as 24 hours. |
| |
|
| 3. |
We
don't know how to change the 'MX' Record.
What do we do? |
| |
That
is no problem. We will email you the
necessary changes and you can simply
forward this email to your hosting company
or IT department. |
| |
|
| 4. |
How
is my email's security and privacy guaranteed? |
| |
PearlMail
does not affect your email security
in any way. Our service does not backup
or make copies of your email messages.
The log files only contain the email
addresses of the sender and the recipient.
We will never log the entire email message.
We do not share any information with
anyone else! In the event your mail
server is off-line, our service will
"spool" your email messages.
When your mail server is back on-line,
it will automatically transfer all the
spooled email messages. Even in this
case, the temporarily spooled messages
will not be permanently saved or backed
up. |
| |
|
| 5. |
Does
PearlMail add any delay to my incoming
mails? |
| |
Hardly!
This service may delay your email by
a few seconds, but not more than a minute.
Email with large attachments, especially
if you have anti-virus service, can
be delayed up to about a minute or so
because of the time it takes to do the
scanning for viruses and spam.
|
| |
|
| 6. |
What
is open-relay? |
| |
For
historical reasons, many SMTP mail servers
will accept mail for emaildomains other
than their own, and forward it on to
the intended recipient.Third-party relay,
also known as "open relay"
or "insecure relay" is where
amail server will route mail for anybody
in the world. Any machine which willaccept
mail for any domain and forward it on
regardless of who the sender isor what
IP address the mail is sent from is
generally called an 'open-relay.'
Spammers
hunt for and abuse these servers to
try to cover their tracks,because
they know their spam is unwelcome
and unwanted. When spammers locatesuch
a machine they can use it as a free
distribution service for their junkemail.
This process very often leads to your
IP/domain being blacklisted.
|
| |
|
| 7. |
What
virus scanners do you use? |
| |
We
use multiple commercial scanners. This
combination of scanners has beenselected
for their differing approaches to virus
detection, which ensures weare capable
of catching all types of viruses, past,
present and future. |
| |
|
| 8. |
What
does the solution do with my spam? |
| |
Clearly,
the benefit to using a service provider
to block spam is removingunwanted messages
from your network, freeing bandwidth
and server processingtime. However,
if the only option for spam handling
is to flag the offendingmessages and
send them into your network, then you
have only fixed half ofthe spam problem.
Netcore's solution combines temporary
secure storageoutside your network with
the ability to access, review, and reclaim
blockedmessages. |
| |
|
| 9. |
Does
the solution guarantee uptime and availability? |
| |
PearlMail
guarantees 99.999 percent service availability
and historically hasdelivered 100 percent
availability. Email is a critical method
ofcommunication for businesses; a true
enterprise-class solution must beunshakable
in its reliability. |

is enabled but still I am receiving
Spam Mails ? |
| |
-
Check whether the mail is tagged as
{Spam ?} in the subject line.
- If so it means that the action chosen
for your domain for spam mails is "Deliver"
and so the mails are tagged as {Spam
?} in the subject line and delivered
to the end user.
- If such a tagged mail is indeed a
spam mail, you may ignore that mail.
- In case a spam tagged mail is actually
not a spam mail, then just forward the
mail to nospam@spamtrap.worldindia.com.
The PearlMail system will learn from
the feedback or alternatively you can
add the sender's email_id or domain
to your whitelist through the PearlMail
frontend. With this, the mails from
the particular email_id/domain will
never be marked as spam.
- In case a spam mail is not tagged
as spam then just forward the mail to
spam@spamtrap.worldindia.com or alternatively
just add the sender's email_id or domain
to your blacklist through the PearlMail
F.E. With this, all the mails from that
particular email id or domain will always
be considered as spam. |
